The Pieces of Heart art exhibition just announced its award winners at Upstate Cerebral Palsy Rome Children’s Education Center this week in Rome, New York. Each participant was called to the podium and awarded with a certificate and travel mug.
“We offer the programs to our individuals for a way to express themselves,” explained Susan Macrina, a recreation specialist with the organization. “It’s an outlet for them and it gives them a sense of success and being part of a community.”
The exhibition displayed unique artwork by children with cerebral palsy, allowing them to express themselves, socialize and acquire new skills. The art projects were arranged with help from the Studio Art Learning Program and Artistic Realization Technologies.
